Walk and talk between 12-14h
We’ve designated March 17 as Sustainable Thursday! And therefore we have organised a whole raft of ideas to help you and your company benefit the environment.
Highlight of the day is the ‘walk and talk’ lunchtime between 12-14h. The gathering will take place in Lobby H/I, where you can find out more about sustainable chocolate, plastic soup and what WTC is doing to reduce its environmental footprint. Time for a major clean-up!
Walk and talk
Worried about plastic pollution? Constance Steenkamp-Faaij from the Amsterdam council will tell you all about it. The city of Amsterdam became the first city in the world to join WWF’s Plastic Smart Cities initiative on 20 June 2019. Amsterdam developed a monitoring action plan and pledged to share progress in their sustainability reporting, as well as working to achieve the ambitious goal of No Plastic in Nature by 2030.
CBRE’s Hannah Bos will also be on hand to talk about all the measures we’re taking to make sure WTC is as green as possible. At WTC Amsterdam, we weave sustainability into everything we do. Our buildings are BREEAM certified. We aim to lead the way in sustainability and technology with a strong focus on service, quality improvement and user experience. We also have the option to further tailor our offices to meet future user demand.
If you want to quantify your green targets, Philipp Pattberg from the VU University will give an update on the UN’s sustainable development goals – and explain the real impact of having shorter showers or drinking less coffee. And what about the impact of the Russian war on sustainability goals?
Full of flavour, full of stories!
Chocolatemakers will also join. You can ask the founders of this sustainable chocolate all about what it takes to run a profitable business while remaining true to your ideals. And yes, there will be chocolate to try and buy!
You can also taste and buy the delicious Orangecello produced by Dik en Schil, the circular drinks company that makes their drinks using orange peel collected from Amsterdam cafes.
Mobility
Want to try out our shared electric cars? Sign up for the WTC’s shared electric car scheme Amber. A car will be parked in Lobby H/I all week, so you can check out the vehicle and find out more. All you need is the app and a valid driving licence.
In addition, Hello Zuidas will be on hand promoting the OV buddies scheme. OV buddies is a project to promote using public transport with your colleagues, and earn cash prizes.
If you and your colleagues have been inspired by all this, don’t forget the first ever Zuidas Sustainability awards, launched by the Green Business Club in collaboration with Hello Zuidas and Amsterdam Zuidas.
Smash your trash!
Think you know all there is to know about throwing things away? Take the EcoSmart ‘smash your trash’-challenge and throw rubbish into the right recycling bin on the Waste Wall.
Will you stop by with your team and take on the challenge?
