Be warned about roadworks this summer
Commuters can expect long delays if they use the A4 motorway and southern part of the A10 ring road to get to WTC Amsterdam between July 22 and August 3, because of major roadworks. You can find the exact roadworks here.
The A4 and the A10 will be closed in one direction between Badhoevedorp and the RAI turnoff (s109) during the 11 day closure and traffic is being diverted via the A9 and the A5. The roadworks are taking place during the summer holidays when there is less traffic, but extra traveling time could still add up to an hour.
Train services to Amsterdam Zuid will continue but there will be timetable changes, so keep an eye on the NS website. Metros and buses will operate as normal.
If you want to know more about alternative routes, or if you are expecting visitors or a delivery from outside the city, you can contact website askandgo.nl for personal advice in English and Dutch. The website and Whatsapp service was set up to help travellers cope with specific road closures and its call centre staff have up to the minute information about the situation on the roads and on public transport.
The roadworks in Zuidas itself are part of preparations for building a second passage through the railway station as part of the Zuidasdok project. This involves widening the A10 and placing it underground and a complete overhaul of Station Zuid.
