The impressive work of Sifra Vieten and Alisa Lis can be admired in WTC Amsterdam until September 30th.
Sifra finds her inspiration in raw and vulnerable stories. Together with her partner and three children – and a fourth on the way – she captures the beauty and complexity of everyday life in her artworks.
As a self-taught artist, Sifra has developed a unique approach to art, free from conventions and rules. Her art reflects her personal journey and the stories that deeply move her, giving you an intimate look into the emotions that connect us all. Love is her greatest source of inspiration, and you can see this in all her work. Her art is an ode to the genuine, unfiltered experiences that make us human.
For Sifra, each artwork is a chance to share her experiences and the power of love with the world, making her work not only visually appealing but also emotionally compelling.
Alisa creates impressive flower sculptures from paper and textiles. She was born in Ukraine, grew up in Saint Petersburg, and has lived in Amsterdam since 2017.
The world is full of flowers, each with a unique meaning for everyone. This is a major source of inspiration for Alisa. For some, flowers are a symbol of joy, while for others, they bring back memories of sadness. This inspires Alisa to create her sculptures so that viewers can feel the different emotions and connections that flowers evoke.
Alisa starts her process by carefully observing the shape of the flower. Then she chooses the material: paper or textile. She measures and cuts the shapes of the flowers and petals and adorns them with textile paint. Metal frames are added to the petals for extra structure and volume. Next, she creates, colours, and shapes the flower stem. Finally, Alisa puts all the elements together into one complete piece.
