You’re invited to a presentation and demonstration of the art installation Neon Songs at the Thomas by the artist Mariah Blue herself. Neon songs is an interactive art installation centered around sound, communication, and performance, conceived as an experimental telecommunications network. It is an installation that makes us reflect on our current growth model and reconsider our connection to technology in a more sustainable way. Neon Songs has been made possible with the generous support of Mondriaan Fonds, Stimulerings Fonds Creative Industry, Amarte Fonds, Gemeente Zuid, AFK and De Thomas.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Mariah Blue’s practice investigates themes around technology that range from stone age pottery to machine learning algorithms. She works in performance, new media, sound, and often in collaboration with other artists. Blue, received her bachelor’s degree from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2009, and MFA, from the Sandberg institute in 2019. She works both in the Netherlands and internationally.
